SWOOP and RUN!!!
I had an interesting experience on my jog this morning. I was going along on this trail that I have been on several times before, enjoying the peace and sounds of nature around me. All of a sudden, a bird swooped down right in front of my face, almost taking my eye out with its beak! Not cool! Next thing I know it swoops me from behind, almost pecking the top of my head (luckily I was wearing a hat). An attack was in progress and there was nothing I could do about it. I tried running faster, but it just kept coming after me! I decided to pick up a branch, when I saw a man and his dog walking my way. I ran up to him and asked him if he knew why this crazy bird was after me. He said it was completely normal 'at the moment' for Magpies to swoop people in protection of their nests. He said not to worry because they shouldn't harm me; this one in particular was just warning me to leave her baby Magpies alone! Good to know!! So went on with my run, much more aware of my surroundings and a bit paranoid the rest of the way. When I was close to hom
e I had a nice little ending to my ordeal. A boy and his dad were walking two tiny, black teacup chihuahuas and they were the cutest things ever!! The whole experience really made me miss my favorite little guy in the world. If only he could have been there to protect me!!!
